Broadstone URC in the local community

We engage with the local community through Fellowship

Music Group

Yarn with Yarn Craft Group
The Yarn with Yarn Charity Craft Group meets alternate Wednesday mornings (10–12noon, and not in an ‘Open House’ week).
The group started in 2014 as a group of people from the church and beyond who are interested in doing something practical for charity using yarn in any way, usually knitting. Articles knitted include premature baby-sized items (that went to King’s College Hospital London), Prayer shawls, hats and neck warmers (for the Sailors’ Society). We have sent about 670 items to charity in our first 18 months. All knitters are welcome – men included!

Oasis
Our younger ladies meet every month for a bring-and-share lunch in each other’s homes. This is a good way of bringing new people into the fellowship.

Curry Club
Several of our men meet at a local curry restaurant about every two months, with a similar aim to the Oasis group.

Other events include

  • New Year party
  • Summer Sunday evening barbecue, in the field behind the church
  • Open Gardens, with tea and cakes, at members’ homes (admission by donation)
  • Spring and Harvest mission suppers.
